Terms and Conditions

How I work, in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask before you accept a quote — hello@developer4hire.com.au.

01Who these terms are between

developer4hire is a sole trader based in Melbourne, Australia (“I”, “me”). “You” means the business or person who hires me, or who accepts the free one-page website.

These terms apply to every quote, project, free website and ad campaign, unless we agree something different in writing. By accepting a quote, sending me your details for a free website, or asking me to run ads, you agree to them.

02Quotes and scope

Every paid project starts with a written quote that sets out what I’ll build, what it costs and roughly how long it will take. The price is fixed for that scope.

If you ask for something that isn’t in the quote — extra pages, new features, a redesign after approval — I’ll quote the extra separately before doing it. Small tweaks within the agreed scope are included.

Quotes are valid for 30 days.

03Payment

  • Projects under $1,000: paid in full before the site goes live.
  • Projects of $1,000 or more: 50% deposit to start, 50% before the site goes live. Larger projects may be split into milestones set out in the quote.
  • Monthly services (ads management, SEO, maintenance): billed monthly in advance.

Invoices are due within 7 days. I may pause work, or take a site offline, while an invoice is more than 14 days overdue. Deposits are non-refundable once work has started, because they cover time already spent.

Prices are in Australian dollars. GST is added only if I am registered for GST at the time, and the invoice will say so.

04What I need from you

To build your site I need your logo, a list of your services, photos, and your contact details, hours and service areas. The project timeline starts when I have them.

You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, everything you give me — photos, logos, text and any other content. I’m not responsible for claims that arise from content you supplied.

If I don’t hear from you for 30 days during a project, I may close it. Restarting may need a new quote.

05Reviews and approval

You see the site before it goes live and can ask for changes. Once you approve it, or once it’s been live for 14 days without you raising a problem, the project is complete.

After that, changes are billed as new work.

06Ownership

Once the final invoice is paid, you own the website: the design, the words and the code written for you. Your domain name, hosting and ad accounts are registered in your name from the start, so if we stop working together you keep everything.

I keep the right to reuse general techniques, code patterns and tools that aren’t specific to your business, and to show your site in my own portfolio and case studies unless you ask me not to.

Third-party items — stock photos, fonts, plugins, hosting — stay under their own licences.

07The free one-page website

I build a one-page website for your business at no cost, so you can see the quality of my work before spending anything. There’s no card, no contract and no obligation to hire me afterwards.

  • What’s included: one scrolling page, built for phones and desktops, with tap-to-call and email buttons, set up so Google can find it, and connected to a domain name in your name.
  • What you provide: your logo, services, photos, contact details, and the domain name. Domain registration is paid by you.
  • Timeline: live within 7 days of you saying yes and sending everything I need.
  • The only thing I ask: a small “Designed by developer4hire” credit stays in the footer.

Hosting for the free site is covered by me while it’s live with the credit in place. If you later want the credit removed, extra pages or features, that’s quoted as paid work.

I can decline or stop a free site if the business isn’t a good fit, the content breaks the law or these terms, or you don’t send what I need within 30 days.

08Google, Facebook and Instagram ads

Ad management is a monthly service with a one-off setup fee. Your ad budget is paid by you directly to Google or Meta on your own card; I never mark it up, and it is separate from my fee.

Ad accounts are created in your name, with me added as a manager. If we stop working together, you keep the accounts, the history and the audiences.

I’ll run the campaigns with care and report each month, but I can’t promise a particular number of clicks, calls or sales — platforms, competition and your market all change. Platform policy decisions, outages and account reviews are outside my control.

Either of us can end ad management with 30 days’ notice in writing.

09Hosting, email and domains

Where I host your site, I’ll keep it running and patched, but outages can happen with any host. I’m not liable for downtime caused by hosting providers, domain registrars or email services.

Keep your domain name renewed. If a domain lapses, the site and email on it stop working, and recovering it may cost extra.

10Guarantees and liability

I’ll build to the agreed scope, use free-licence or properly licensed assets, and fix any genuine bug in my work found within 30 days of going live at no charge.

I can’t guarantee search rankings, traffic, enquiries or sales. Those depend on your market, competitors and the platforms, not just the website.

To the extent the law allows, my total liability for any project or service is limited to the amount you paid me for it, and I’m not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded.

11Privacy

Enquiries sent through this website go to my email and into my lead-tracking system so I can reply. I don’t sell or share your details, and I only use them to respond and to carry out work you’ve asked for.

For client sites I’ll only access your accounts to do the agreed work. I’ll keep any passwords and business information you share confidential.

12Ending a project

You can cancel a project at any time. You pay for the work done up to that point; any deposit covers it. If you cancel after approval, the full project price is due.

I can end a project if invoices go unpaid, if the content is illegal or harmful, or if we can’t work together constructively. I’ll hand over the work completed and paid for.

13Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. The version in place when you accepted a quote applies to that project.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
